New agreements strengthen regional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia
The third plenary meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia was held in Fergana. The discussions focused on expanding trade and economic ties between the two countries’ regions, strengthening investment cooperation, and implementing joint projects.
The event brought together heads and representatives of 17 Russian regions, officials from all regions of Uzbekistan, and about 400 entrepreneurs from both countries.

During the meeting, greetings from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin were read out. Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev delivered the message from the Uzbek side, while First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov read out the message from the Russian side.

The participants discussed developing direct interregional ties, expanding industrial cooperation, increasing bilateral trade, attracting investment, and implementing new joint projects.
As a practical outcome of the meeting, four agreements were signed to develop cooperation between Fergana and Omsk regions, Surkhandarya region and Krasnoyarsk territory, and Namangan region and the Republic of Dagestan.
In addition, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Wildberries signed an investment agreement to build a Class A logistics complex.
It was noted that strengthening direct ties between the regions would contribute to expanding trade and economic cooperation and to opening new areas of interaction between the two countries.
The next meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia will take place in Omsk.
