The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the World Bank project “Modernizing Uzbekistan’s National Innovation System” (MUNIS) under the Agency for Innovative Development launched the grant programs “Research Commercialization Program” and “Business Investments in Research & Development” (RCP & BIRD).
These programs aim to support and fund the commercialization of research and development results while providing mentorship for projects with commercialization potential.
To enhance professional skills and competencies in project management, the PIU organized a training seminar titled “Project Management Practice Based on PMI® PMBOK® Guide 6th, 7th Editions” from February 5 to 7, 2025, for key participants of the RCP & BIRD grant program sub-projects.
The PMI® PMBOK® Guide is an international standard developed by the US Project Management Institute (PMI), offering a unified approach and methodologies for project management, including descriptions of processes, tools, and techniques for effective project implementation.
The seminar was designed to teach participants the fundamentals of project management, including project planning and execution, risk management, schedule, and resource management, and the implementation of agile methodologies.
During the training, participants received an in-depth overview of the process groups and knowledge areas outlined in the PMI® PMBOK® Guide 6th and 7th Editions. They learned project management principles in compliance with PMI international standards and practiced applying project management tools and methods.
The training sessions were conducted offline at the Agency for Innovative Development’s premises, in collaboration with Fanur Group and the Project Management Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, both authorized partners of the American Project Management Institute (PMI).
Key speakers included international project management experts: Aida Yesenzhan, a certified project manager and consultant on strategic and organizational development, and Akbota Akzambekkizi, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Director of the Project Management Certification Center.
The sessions featured practical case studies, methodological materials, and interactive assignments that allowed participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to real project management scenarios.
“I have developed a technology for producing feed products for wild animals, birds, and fish from rice industry waste. This invention has been patented in Uzbekistan and nearly 20 other countries. We won the World Bank’s MUNIS project grant to continue our work. We are now working on building a new microbiology plant. At this stage, we have purchased some equipment and plan to launch the plant in April. Today’s event is of great importance because we are beginning to operate according to international standards”, said inventor and CEO of CBF Animal Nutrition, Abror Dadakhojayev.
As a result of the training, participants not only mastered key aspects of the PMI® PMBOK® Guide standards but also qualified to take the PMI® PMP® (Project Manager Professional) certification exam.
