
The solemn event was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ulugbek Azamov. He spoke about the development of the tourism sector in the country and the role of foreign hotel chains in Uzbekistan.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Uzbekistan Ms. Aurelia Bouchez, Chief Operating Officer at Accor New East Europe Alexis Delaroff, General Manager of the Mercure Tashkent Hotel Farkhod Toshtemirov, and media representatives.
Alexis Delaroff noted that Mercure Tashkent is one of the first Accor brand hotels in Uzbekistan.
“We are confident that the opening of new hotels in Uzbekistan under well-known international brands will increase the country’s tourism attractiveness and strengthen its competitiveness in the domestic and international tourism markets”, he said.
It is noteworthy that Mercure has more than 810 hotels in 60 countries. The brand is part of Accor, the world’s leading hotel group with 10,000 restaurants and bars and more than 5,300 hotels in 110 countries.
The Mercure Tashkent hotel has 126 rooms. It also includes Turkish and European cuisine restaurants, a gym, a swimming pool, a juice bar and other amenities. The hotel has also conference halls that can accommodate from 20 to 100 people and are designed for various events.
The visitors of the opening ceremony got acquainted with the conditions created in the hotel.
