Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis N.Yuldashev emphasized that Uzbekistan – American relations are consistently developing in many areas, including in the sphere of parliamentarism. Bilateral cooperation has received a new impetus thanks to the agreements reached during the historic visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States in May, 2018.
The visit of the United States Congress delegation to Uzbekistan demonstrates growing interest in cooperation with Uzbekistan. This is evidenced by the organization of Caucus on Uzbekistan in the United States Congress. This structure will allow to expand and deepen inter-parliamentary relations, effectively analyze the essence of socio-political process in Uzbekistan and the United States.
It was noted that large-scale reforms are being carried out in Uzbekistan on developing economy and social sphere on the basis of advanced foreign experience, achievements of world science and innovative technologies. The need for strengthening cooperation for development of trade-economic, financial-investment and technological cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States was noted.
At the meeting with the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis N.Ismoilov, members of the delegation were provided with detailed information about legislation in Uzbekistan, activities of committees and institutions, friendship groups of the Lower Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Parliament.
The sides exchanged views on further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and ensuring regional security.
On the same day, the delegation of the United States Congress visited a number of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, attended the negotiations on further intensification of trade-economic relations.
