On November 19, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with a group of members of the United States House of Representatives led by co-chairs of Caucus on Uzbekistan Trent Kelly and Vicente Gonzalez.
The delegation included both Republicans and Democrats, members of key committees of the House of Representatives.
The Minister congratulated the congressmen on their re-election in recent midterm elections and welcomed the creation of Caucus on Uzbekistan in the Lower House of the United States Congress for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during the conversation, the sides discussed current issues of Uzbekistan – American agenda, which is becoming comprehensive and intensive after the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States in May and his productive negotiations with President Donald Trump.
Prospects of strengthening and expanding relations between Uzbekistan and the U.S. parliamentarians, legislative consolidation of positive trends in dynamically developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Charge d'affaires of the United States to Uzbekistan Alan Meltzer.
