Meeting with the UN delegation
The Senate hosted a meeting between the Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Svetlana Artikova and the UN delegation led by Assistant Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the UNDP Administrator Abdoulaye Mar Dieye.

Prospects for further bilateral cooperation were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that the most urgent tasks of interaction between Uzbekistan and the UN are the promotion of regional security, the socio-economic development of the country and the region as a whole, the solution of environmental problems, in particular the mitigation of the consequences of the Aral crisis.
The parties emphasized the importance of mitigating the consequences of the Aral Sea disaster, the socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region, intensifying cooperation with authoritative international structures in this area.
