As previously reported, the World Aquatics Championships are being held in Singapore.

As part of the championships, the Minister of Sports of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov, First Deputy Chairperson of the National Paralympic Committee and First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva, and Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov, met with IOC President Kirsty Coventry and the President of World Aquatics and Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia Husain Al Musallam.

During the meeting, World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam congratulated Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva on her election to the Bureau of the organization’s Executive Committee. An exchange of views was held on the joint development of a roadmap aimed at the advancement of aquatic sports in Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the current dynamics of cooperation. As part of the discussions, new promising areas of collaboration were considered, including plans to increase the number of qualified specialists in the field of aquatic sports in Uzbekistan.

A substantive meeting was also held with the President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry and the IOC Director of Olympic Solidarity, NOC Relations and Olympism365 James Macleod.

At the beginning of the meeting, Kirsty Coventry was conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Ms. Coventry, in turn, congratulated Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva on her election to the Bureau of the World Aquatics Executive Committee.

To analyze the current state and assess the results achieved in the development of the Olympic movement in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to discuss promising areas of cooperation, Kirsty Coventry was officially invited to visit Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
