The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok has held a meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana and the Director of the Transport Division, Weimin Ren.

The initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, forwarded during his speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, were discussed at the meeting.

The initiative of the Head of the state to create Regional Centre for the Development of Transport and Communications under the auspices of the United Nations, which is closest to the activities of ESCAP, was emphasized.

Comprehensive information, revealing the essence, goals, objectives, significance and expected results from the creation and activities of the Regional Centre, was presented.

Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana welcomed the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, which cover a large number of issues on the current agenda of the UN and its institutions. 

Director of ESCAP Transport Division noted the importance of this initiative for the countries of the region. According to him, everyone in ESCAP understands the need of the Central Asian states for such a Regional Centre.

The parties agreed to continue consultations on the implementation of this and other international initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
