
A meeting was held in Washington between the Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, Javlon Vakhabov, and representatives of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute, the Silk Road Studies Program, and the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC).
At the meeting, participants discussed the dynamic changes taking place in Central Asia in recent years. Special attention was given to new economic and transport initiatives, regional security issues, and the growing role of Uzbekistan in shaping the region’s future.
“Today, Central Asia is undergoing a historical transformation”, emphasized Mr. Vakhabov. “Through consistent reforms, Uzbekistan is significantly contributing to strengthening regional cooperation. We see our mission as working with neighboring countries to create new opportunities for the sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region”.
Experts highly praised Tashkent’s pragmatic approach to addressing complex regional issues, including water and energy challenges and the development of transport corridors. Particular interest was shown in Uzbekistan’s initiatives to deepen regional cooperation in Central Asia and establish new mechanisms for multilateral engagement.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue expert dialogue on key issues related to regional development, including the preparation of joint research projects and publications and the organization of future discussion platforms.
