International observers and foreign media representatives are following the Elections of Deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and Local Councils in Uzbekistan.

UzA correspondent interviewed Mederbek Shermetaliev, the Director of Kyrgyz National News Agency Kabar, who participates in the elections as an observer.

“We are visiting polling stations and directly observing the voting process”, Mr. Shermetaliev noted. “The population is very actively involved in this political process. All conditions have been created for the free expression of citizens’ will. And most importantly, elections are held based on openness, which is one of the democratic requirements. Journalists are observing and actively covering the voting process simultaneously”.
