Khiva hosts the Second Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States.

The Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev noted that it is no coincidence that this meeting is taking place in the ancient and beautiful Khiva – the pearl of Khorezm oasis. This city is not only one of the most important centers of Islamic civilization, but also a symbol of shared cultural and historical heritage.

– Khiva has a rich history and high cultural significance, – said Mr. Ashimbayev. – The Great Silk Road, passing through this territory, served as an exchange of ideas and cultural contacts between many peoples. Being a crossroads of civilizations since ancient times, Khiva is a reminder of the importance of dialogue, solidarity, and cooperation.

I am confident that our inter-parliamentary dialogue platform will significantly contribute to strengthening friendship, cooperation, and partnership in Central Asia. Today’s meeting underscores the mutual determination to strengthen dialogue and use the potential of parliamentary diplomacy for the socio-economic development of the entire region.

In general, the region’s countries continue to face several fundamental problems. Geopolitical tensions, economic instability, and climate threats force us to unite and develop agreed-upon solutions.

It should be noted that such conditions require Central Asia to demonstrate a desire for strength and unity. First, regular meetings and strengthening high-level political dialogue will contribute to this.

– One of the primary mechanisms for developing relations between our countries is a meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian countries for the benefit of a common goal – the creation of a comprehensive development model that should serve to improve the standard of living of every resident of the Central Asian region. I am confident that the Second Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States will allow us to develop new practical approaches and become an essential stage in strengthening regional cooperation, – said Mr. Ashimbayev.
