On June 23, 2022, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the National Children’s Medical Center (NCMC) held a ceremony of signing the Master Plan with the representatives of Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) within the framework of the KOICA Project for Capacity Building of Medical Personnel in National Children’s Medical Center.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the KOICA Office in Uzbekistan, headed by Ms. Park Sunjin, representatives of the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital led by Director Dr. Kim Hansuk, as well as representatives of the NCMC, led by Director Dr. A.M. Sharipov.

The purpose of the development of this Master Plan for NCMC is to improve the quality of medical services provided in the Center by raising the standards of treatment for severely ill children, incorporating the best practices of the SNUH. The Master Plan also provides for the introduction of modern training programs at the KOICA Simulating Innovation Learning Center with the support of experts from the Republic of Korea.

At the ceremony, the head of the NCMC Dr. A.M. Sharipov expressed his gratitude to KOICA and the staff of SNUH for their support in improving the skills of the medical personnel from the very first days of the Center’s operation. Professor Sharipov noted that the Center’s cooperation with KOICA and SNUH has continued even during the challenging period of the COVID-19 outbreak. Dr.Sharipov expressed his confidence that the Master Plan will take the development of the National Children’s Medical Center to a new level, thus making it a leading and advanced center not only in Uzbekistan but also in the whole CA region.

“This Master Plan, aiming to build the capacity of the National Children’s Medical Center, is a new phase in the Center’s work. The Plan is based on Korea’s experience in providing child health services and we hope that it will contribute to the further development of Uzbekistan’s healthcare system. The SNUH in partnership with KOICA will continue to support the National Children’s Medical Center” said Dr. Kim Hansuk, Director of Seoul National University Children's Hospital.

Ms. Park Sunjin, Director of KOICA Office in Uzbekistan, thanked the representatives of SNUH and the NCMC for their continuous cooperation with KOICA and expressed confidence that through the implementation of this Plan, the Center’s specialists will play a substantial role in the improvement of the healthcare system of Uzbekistan. Ms. Park also stressed the importance of incorporating best practices and skills from the leading professors of Seoul National University Hospital in Korea into their work.
