Today, New Uzbekistan has become a platform for international dialogue to address global and regional challenges. The hosting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Tashkent clearly reflects this role.
This prestigious conference will not only be recorded in the history of global parliamentarism but will also influence the development of international parliamentary cooperation. It promotes a framework that recognizes human dignity, well-being, and security as fundamental values, and will further strengthen ties between national parliaments.
Lorenzo Bugli, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of San Marino, shared his thoughts on the conference:
“In today’s era of globalization, amid various changes and challenges, it is strategically significant that the oldest and most prestigious inter-parliamentary organization is holding its 150th Assembly in Tashkent.
I believe this is the result of the large-scale and comprehensive democratic reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the high level of trust the international community places in your country.
All bodies of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including the Standing Committee, the Forum of Young Parliamentarians, and the Human Rights Committee, under the theme ‘Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Justice’, will be discussing key issues such as poverty eradication, social equality, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and the peace process. Moreover, the adoption of 11 international resolutions is expected.
Workshops are also planned on key topics such as climate change, parliamentary diplomacy, and social norms affecting women’s health. In addition, candidates will be nominated for the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s 2025 Prize and the Cremer-Passy Prize. Several resolutions and the Tashkent Declaration are expected to be adopted as conference outcomes.
The celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians also carries symbolic significance, as Uzbekistan is currently undertaking significant efforts to promote gender equality, particularly by ensuring women’s active participation in the political process and strengthening their role in public administration.

This event will hold considerable historical significance for the socio-political sphere of your country. The essential documents adopted will contribute to all nations’ well-being and further strengthen friendship among countries”.
