This is a collection of unique memoirs based on the stories of living Uzbekistani veterans who participated in World War II, endured hardship, and witnessed the horrors of war. The book has been published in both Uzbek and Russian languages.
The book is based on the recollections of 14 war veterans from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, and all regions of the country.
It is especially commendable that the younger generation recorded these memories. Reading these accounts of hardship and valor allows for a deeper appreciation of the value of peace.
Preserving the memories of participants and eyewitnesses of World War II is a vivid expression of deep respect for history and those who lived it.
“Light of Memory” is more than just a collection of memoirs – a dialogue between generations. These stories are filled with truth, painful memories, and the heartfelt testimonies of those who witnessed the horrors of war.
