On December 30, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Warmly greeting each other, the two leaders exchanged heartfelt congratulations on the upcoming New Year and sincerely wished fraternal peoples of the two countries peace, wellbeing, happiness, success and prosperity.

It was noted with deep satisfaction that, despite the consequences of the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, significant results were achieved in the past year in strengthening Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan strategic partnership, which is based on centuries-old friendship, principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust, common history, cultural and spiritual values.

The heads of state reviewed joint plans to enhance multifaceted cooperation in 2021, as well as the schedule of the upcoming events within the framework of bilateral contacts and international structures, primarily the United Nations.

The leaders agreed to increase cooperation between the two countries in trade, industry, agriculture and transport, and to hold a rich program of business and cultural events next year.

The preparation of the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States in the coming year was also discussed.
