Khiva hosted Magic of Dance International Festival, held to promote the national art of dance, further development of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential.

This cultural event, organized on September 14-16 by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, Khorezm region’s khokimiyat, glorifies national customs, values and art of Uzbekistan.

The festival was attended by about 50 dancers and dance groups from such countries as England, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Malaysia, India, China, Indonesia, Poland, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. High-ranking foreign guests, representatives of diplomatic corps and mass media were invited to the event.

The festival included an animation show, theatrical performances, exhibitions of handicrafts, national dishes, fine and applied art.

Scientific-practical conference on “The importance of national traditions in dance art” was held within the framework of the festival. It was attended by scientists studying the history and practice of dance art, guests and students. Participants became familiar with Uzbek national dances, in particular, history, essence and significance of Khorezm dance art.

Gala concert and awarding ceremony of winners in various nominations was held. It was attended by representatives of state and public organizations, labor veterans, active youth, domestic and foreign mass media

Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and India’s song and dance ensembles became the third place winners. Second place was taken by dance groups of Indonesia, Khorazm Raqs of Uzbekistan and Georgia. Poland and Turkmenistan dance groups became the first place winners.

Azerbaijan dance performers won the Grand Prix of the International Festival.
