As part of the project “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia”, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture, and Winemaking named after Academician M. Mirzayev and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Launched in 2022, the project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It addresses key objectives, including the rational use of water resources, maintaining crop yields during dry years, ensuring ecological balance, and increasing the efficiency of the agro-industrial sector.
As part of the cooperation, an agreement was reached to modernize agriculture through the introduction of innovative technologies, including drip irrigation systems in the Zarafshan River basin in Navoi region.
By the end of this year, the institute named after Academician M. Mirzayev will establish an intensive orchard covering 10 hectares at the Navoi Scientific Experimental Station under the institute and will implement a drip irrigation system. In the future, this model is expected to be extended to other regions of the country.
