A delegation led by the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Akihiko Tanaka, currently on an official visit to Uzbekistan, visited the Samarkand Institute of Agro-Innovations and Research to learn about its activities.

This institute, established at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, aims to train specialists in the agricultural sector, introduce modern technologies, and conduct scientific research in seed production. The institute collaborates with foreign universities and international organizations, including JICA.

The delegation reviewed ongoing projects and tasted dried dates, praising their quality.

Akihiko Tanaka also got familiar with scientific research projects being conducted at the institute and planted a sapling in the university courtyard as a symbol of continued cooperation in the future.
