A roundtable discussion was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Uzbek language being granted the status of a state language and the 630th anniversary of the great scientist and statesman Mirzo Ulugbek’s birth.

The event was attended by teachers and students of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and the University of Tsukuba, as well as members of the Uzbek language clubs organized by the “Japan – Uzbekistan” and “Nagoya – Uzbekistan” societies.

Welcoming the participants, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov emphasized that today, the Uzbek language is actively used in Uzbekistan’s political, legal, economic, social, spiritual, and educational life as a state language, and large-scale work is being carried out to enhance its status and prestige. It was noted that the number of Uzbek speakers worldwide has grown to 50 million, which indicates that the Uzbek language is becoming one of the most common languages ​​in the world.

Along with this, it was noted that the great encyclopedist, ruler of the Temurid state Muhammad Taragai Mirzo Ulugbek is a great historical figure who made an incomparable contribution to the development of science and world civilization, left a rich scientific, creative, and pedagogical heritage. It was hoped that his scientific and educational heritage and humanitarian ideas would be widely studied and promoted by Japanese scientists and researchers.

The event also featured an engaging competition, challenging participants to solve puzzles in the Uzbek language. The winners were rewarded with memorable prizes, adding a fun and competitive element to the celebration.
