Energy projects implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of foreign companies are becoming increasingly important.
A striking example is the project of China Datang and its partner Dongfang Electric Corporation in Buka district of Tashkent region.
“Solar energy is developing in our country”, says the head of the Information Service of the Uzeltechsanoat Association Namaz Tolipov. “A solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 264 megawatts is being built in Buka district, the cost of which is $170 million. Deputy Chairman of the Association Jahongir Jamolov met with the representative of China Datang in Central Asia Wang Hao and the Director of the Dongfang Electric Corporation project Wu Hao. The parties discussed the issue of supplying local electrical products to implement projects by Chinese companies in our country. Representatives of these two companies were informed about the development of Uzbekistan’s electrical industry, the Association’s activities, and our enterprises’ capabilities. They were also introduced to the activities of the Eltechlab laboratory and the Eltech-Malaka training center under the Uzeltechsanoat Association”.
In 2024, China Datang launched a joint research and development center for technological innovations in Uzbekistan, Silk Road Energy (R&D), and plans to create a cooperative institute for training engineering and technical specialists in the energy sector.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to develop cooperation covering not only trade and economic aspects, but also the training of highly qualified specialists for the energy sector.
