An international gemological laboratory, GCI Gemological Centers, has begun operations in Uzbekistan.
The program, implemented in cooperation with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel, the central office of the trade and investment house News Uzbekistan, the GCI gemological center located at the Tel Aviv Diamond Exchange, and Expert One, is aimed at introducing international standards in gemological expertise, developing professional education, and strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Israel.
The opening of the new complex will enable the identification of artificial analogues of precious stones, monitoring of the compliance of imported jewelry with international standards, and prevention of consumer fraud. The international certificate issued by the laboratory will ensure the free circulation of jewelry produced in Uzbekistan on the global market and create additional opportunities to increase the country’s export potential.
At the gemological training center established in the laboratory, representatives of the jewelry industry will be able to acquire modern knowledge and skills on the origin, properties, and practical applications of precious stones.
The opening ceremony was attended by the management of GCI Gemological Centers, the Ambassador of Israel to Uzbekistan, representatives of the Uzbekzargarsanoati Association, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the State Assay Control Inspection, and other relevant organizations. Guests were provided with information about the laboratory’s technical capabilities, modern equipment, and the facilities created within the complex.
One of the key advantages of the project is a mobile laboratory, which allows gemological examinations to be conducted on-site at the client’s request, enabling prompt analysis of results and the issuance of conclusions and certificates.
