The event “Leadership and Strategic Management in Electricity Sector Regulation” has commenced in Tashkent, offering practical value for industry specialists.

Organized by the Agency for Energy Market Development and Regulation in collaboration with the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA), the event brings together agency staff, key specialists from electricity enterprises, representatives of international financial organizations, and foreign experts.

Andrijana Nelkova Chuchuk, Chair of the Energy Regulators Regional Association, and Sergey Aghinyan, Commissioner at the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia, share their expertise.

“As international practice shows, transparency, improvement of market mechanisms and expansion of private sector participation play an essential role in regulating the energy market”, says the head of the Agency’s Press Service Bunyod Abdullayev. “In developed countries, the priority tasks are to establish an effective tariff policy, protect the interests of consumers, and ensure uninterrupted supplies. Uzbekistan also pays special attention to improving regulatory mechanisms in the energy sector, using international experience. This process requires increasing market competitiveness, using innovative technologies, and strengthening strategic management. International cooperation is one of the key factors in successfully implementing reforms in the industry”.

Over three days, the event participants will discuss mechanisms for regulating the electricity market, pricing, developing a competitive market environment, and strategic management issues. They will exchange views on problems in this area and their solutions based on international experience.
