Alexey Chernyak, curator of the Program for the Conservation of the Rarest Sturgeon of Eurasia of the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA), visited the Nukus branch of the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry, and Biotechnology.

During the visit, the guest held negotiations with the branch administration on further developing the fisheries sector. The discussions focused on launching joint scientific and practical projects in aquaculture, promoting knowledge exchange, and strengthening international cooperation.

Alexey Chernyak also got acquainted with the artificial reservoirs and training laboratories on the branch’s premises. He gave a positive assessment of the scientific and practical facilities available there.

During the visit, an agreement was reached to collaborate on conserving and reproducing large paddlefish species native to the Amudarya basin.
