Samarkand State University of Architecture and Construction named after Mirzo Ulugbek hosted an international scientific-practical workshop on the experience of Uzbekistan and Italy in implementing a new concept of urbanism and seismic protection of structures.

The university professors from Uzbekistan and Italy, representatives of international organizations, engineering companies, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Samarkand Regional Hokimiyat, and the World Bank attended the event.

The participants discussed new approaches to urbanization in the context of globalization, the role of art and culture in urban development, and environmentally sustainable architecture.

Thematic reports of scientists, researchers and specialists in the field were heard, and project presentations were held. The participants also discussed the seismic protection technologies used in Uzbekistan and Italy, their effectiveness and advantages. The reports touched upon the issues of seismic isolation technology, modern engineering solutions, and seismic testing of structures printed on a 3D printer.

During the event, memoranda were signed on expanding international and national cooperation between Samarkand State University of Architecture and Construction, Gabriele d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Hanseo University and Karakalpak State University. It provides for the exchange of teachers and students, joint research, joint educational programs, and the organization of international workshops and conferences.
