The Netherlands hosts the International Forum of the European Union (EU) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) with the participation of representatives of 19 beneficiary countries, as well as employees of the European Space Agency (ESA), IAEA, Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, National Institute for Public Health and the Environment and many other structures.
The forum is dedicated to discussing the P101 Project “Enhance of CBRN Critical Infrastructure Protection and Security in the South East and Eastern Europe and CA regions”.
It is attended by the Chief Specialist of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of Uzbekistan, the National Coordinator for the Implementation of the BWC Otabek Kasimov.
“The event is aimed at representing the P101 Implementation Group in the EU, discussing the scope of its application, specific priorities of partner countries in protection and security of critical CBRN infrastructure, solving practical issues of project implementation with an emphasis on consulting visits of the P101 Implementation Group to each of the partner countries, as well as creating a beneficial environment for open expert discussions, which will allow all parties to reach consensus on the joint implementation of P101”, Mr. Kasimov said.
The EU CBRN CoE Initiative aims to promote regional cooperation to increase awareness, preparedness, and capacity to mitigate chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear risks at the national, regional, and international levels.
