An International Conference on Food Security has started at the International Tourist Center “The Great Silk Road” in Samarkand.

The event, organized by the Government of Uzbekistan with the technical support of FAO, is attended by representatives of more than 30 countries – ministers, diplomats, senior officials of many prestigious international organizations, financial institutions, and scientific institutions.

High-ranking officials of such structures as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the World Bank, the Islamic Organization for Food Security, and the Asian Development Bank are among the speakers and delegates.

Prime Minister A. Aripov read the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s greeting to the conference participants.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Ganiyev, Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, and other high-ranking officials are attending the conference’s opening ceremony.
