The 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is continuing in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Uzbekistan delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, participated in the debates organized within the framework of the assembly on “Using Science, Technology and Innovation for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future”.

During the debates, the Uzbekistan delegation put forward an initiative to stimulate innovation spheres in the future, exchange experience in strengthening and developing the human resources potential of parliaments, and intensify the global dialogue in science and technology.

Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva met in Geneva with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong.

The parties discussed cooperation issues between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the IPU and plans for the future.

In particular, the preparations for the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in 2025 in Uzbekistan, were discussed.

Martin Chungong noted that Uzbekistan has achieved enormous development results in a short period. Holding the 150th anniversary Assembly of the IPU in Tashkent will be a logical continuation of fruitful inter-parliamentary cooperation and will also demonstrate to other states the exemplary work of the country’s parliament.
