Important agreements signed to promote cooperation

As part of the 3rd Belarus – Uzbekistan Women’s Business Forum, a session was organized on “Uzbekistan – Belarus: Prospects for Bilateral Cooperation in Education, Science, and Healthcare”.

The discussions focused on issues of cooperation, the role of science in technological development, prospects for the pharmaceutical industry, maternal and child healthcare, and training specialists for the medical sector.

Cooperation agreements were signed between universities and professional organizations. In particular, an agreement on scientific and innovative cooperation was reached between the National University of Uzbekistan and Vitebsk State University. Agreements were also signed between Andijan State University and Grodno State University, Fergana State Technical University and Gomel State Technical University, Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute and Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technologies, as well as Termez State University of Engineering and Agrotechnology and Vitebsk State Technological University.

In addition, a professional cooperation agreement was signed between the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan and the Belarusian Association of Journalists.

As part of the business forum, the 5th session was held on “Uzbekistan – Belarus: An Expert View on the Development of Cooperation in the Agro-Industrial Complex”, where prospects for cooperation in this field were discussed.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Research Institute of Agriculture in the Southern Regions of Uzbekistan and the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as between the Scientific Research Institute of Rainfed Agriculture and the Republican Scientific Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise “Flax Institute” of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

As part of the business forum, the 6th session focused on the participation of youth in democratic processes, the promotion of the rule of law, and sustainable development.

The discussions focused on prospects for cooperation in the field of youth policy. Key areas identified included exchange programs, joint projects, and the expansion of platforms for dialogue and collaboration.

At the forum session dedicated to the role and importance of local self-government in ensuring the sustainable development of the regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus, the primary focus was on strengthening friendly ties between the two countries.

The discussions highlighted the following issues: parliamentary oversight as an effective tool for regional development, active public participation in the work of local Councils of people’s deputies, the development of sister-city relations between Minsk and Tashkent, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation between the two capitals.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Senate Commission of Uzbekistan on Promoting the Activities of Representative Local Authorities and the Standing Committee for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. An Agreement on Establishing Friendly Relations between the city of Termez and the Polotsk district was also signed.
