Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, Javlon Vakhabov, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda.

The parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of cooperation and the interaction of expert and analytical circles of the two countries.

Ambassador Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda expressed his appreciation for the dynamics and depth of cooperation, which resulted from the efforts of the heads of the two states to build trust and their desire to deepen the strategic partnership.

Establishing close and intensive contacts at all levels – between government members, relevant ministries and agencies, through parliament, heads of border regions, and representatives of educational, cultural, and humanitarian institutions was emphasized. The diplomat also highlighted the extensive level of interaction through the organization of economic forums, meetings of rectors, festivals, and other events.

It was noted that implementing joint projects in trade, transport and logistics, industrial cooperation, agriculture, and tourism can give even greater impetus to cooperation. The creation of an industrial and trade zone “Uzbekistan – Tajikistan” at the “Oybek” and “Fottehabad” checkpoints is identified as one of the promising projects.

At the meeting, prospects for further building up the comprehensive interaction of IICA with the leading expert and analytical institutions of Tajikistan, including the Center for Strategic Studies and the National Academy of Sciences, in the implementation of joint research projects, exchange of experience and personnel, as well as the organization of roundtable discussion and conferences were also discussed.
