Director of the International Institute for Central Asia Javlon Vakhabov and Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilham Tuah bin Illias met to discuss the current state and prospects of relations within multilateral organizations.

The parties exchanged views on implementing agreements reached during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim to Uzbekistan in May this year, including strengthening political dialogue and interparliamentary ties, expanding practical cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres, implementing humanitarian and educational programs, and intensifying tourist and cultural exchange.

Special attention was paid to promoting the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to create a dialogue platform in the Central Asia plus ASEAN format, taking into account Malaysia’s chairmanship in this regional association of Southeast Asian countries in 2025.

In addition, the parties considered the prospects for establishing an expert dialogue through analytical centers and research institutions to conduct joint applied research on current issues of the development of the regions of Central and Southeast Asia and to develop concrete proposals for further expansion and deepening of comprehensive relations.
