Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA), met with a delegation from the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation (CMI), led by Minna Kukkonen-Karlander, Senior Manager for Asia. The purpose of the meeting was to establish partnerships for conducting joint research and scientific collaborations.

The experts highlighted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev actively promotes policies of good neighborliness and open dialogue. Such efforts contribute to building trust between countries and creating conditions for prosperity and stability, facilitating the collaborative resolution of existing issues based on principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests.

Minna Kukkonen-Karlander highly praised the recent successful resolution of border issues between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to her, this achievement sets an essential precedent for peaceful conflict resolution, serving as a valuable model for other regions around the world.

CMI representatives expressed confidence in further advancing similar peacebuilding processes and reaffirmed their readiness to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in Central Asia.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to enhance research cooperation and advance joint initiatives aimed at strengthening trust, security, and sustainable development in the region.
