During the visit of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) delegation to Moscow, a meeting was held between Javlon Vakhabov, IICA Director, and Mikhail Fradkov, Director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS).

The parties discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda and exchanged views on the prospects for further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia. 

Special attention was given to the future development of dialogue in the “Central Asia – Russia” format and the role of the expert community in developing effective cooperation mechanisms.

Mr. Vakhabov recalled that the Cooperation Agreement between IICA and RISS, in effect since May 18, 2021, serves as a solid foundation for closer coordination on the priority areas of work between the two institutes.

In turn, Mr. Fradkov expressed readiness to continue the dialogue with IICA to provide expert support for various level contacts between Uzbekistan and Russia. 

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to enhance cooperation between IICA and RISS, which was formalized in the Joint Action Plan for 2025, signed by both parties.
