Spiritual and enlightenment events have begun in Samarkand to commemorate the 689th anniversary of the birth of the prominent statesman and military leader Amir Temur.

As per tradition, regional and city officials and community activists visited the mausoleum of Amir Temur, where verses from the Quran were recited.

Following this, a flower-laying ceremony took place at the monument to Amir Temur, which is located in the city center.

The majestic monument was erected in the city’s heart in 1996 to mark the 660th anniversary of Sahibqiran Amir Temur’s birth. At that time, restoration was also done on the mausoleum and surrounding area. Today, this site remains one of the most frequently visited by local citizens, international tourists, and guests.

In Samarkand, festive and commemorative events traditionally begin with a visit to the commander’s mausoleum.

Spiritual and enlightenment events dedicated to the birthday of Amir Temur will continue in educational institutions, theaters, and museums.
