An international scientific and practical conference on “Sustainable financing: The role of the banking and financial system in the development of the green economy” was held at the Banking and Finance Academy of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, scholars, professors, and financial specialists from leading universities and financial institutions in the United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, India, South Africa, and other countries.

At the conference, it was noted that a key issue is strengthening the interconnection between legislation, the investment climate, education, research in the green economy, and sustainable financing. In particular, special importance was attached to developing national ESG standards, expanding green financing instruments, and training highly qualified personnel.

As noted, Uzbekistan is among the countries actively implementing the concept of a green economy. Key tasks in this process include integrating ESG standards into national regulatory frameworks, developing a market for green financial instruments, and incorporating educational and research programs.

Specialized sessions were organized as part of the conference, during which participants presented scientific studies and practical recommendations on topics related to ESG standards, green bonds, environmental policy, financial transparency, environmentally sustainable transport, and digital finance.
