Gender equality in the management system

Tashkent hosts a training workshop “Mechanisms for ensuring gender equality in the management system: principles of gender audit”, organized by the Asian Development Bank and the Family and Women’s Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Deputy Chairman of the Family and Women’s Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mukarram Nurmatova, noted that the Head of State focuses on the comprehensive support of women and creating the necessary conditions for their practical work.

It was emphasized at the event that gender equality is a key factor in ensuring efficiency, fairness, and accountability in the management system, and that gender audits contribute to an objective assessment of processes in government agencies and decision-making practices.

The event aims to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of employees of government agencies and departments in gender audit.

The participants exchanged views on the ILO methodology for active participation in gender audit, mechanisms for phased audit, and the development of an effective gender policy based on audit results. Issues of inclusive approaches, gender planning and monitoring in institutional systems were also discussed.

During the practical classes and discussions, special attention was paid to the mechanisms for developing recommendations to strengthen the gender approach to personnel policy, internal procedures, and document management in government organizations.

The workshop is considered an essential component of ADB’s technical assistance to develop effective gender-sensitive governance in Uzbekistan and will contribute to strengthening accountability in public administration, ensuring gender equality, and introducing inclusive approaches across institutional systems.
