GDG DevFest Tashkent gathers hundreds of developers from Uzbekistan

One of the most anticipated events of the country’s technology community, GDG DevFest Tashkent, took place in the capital. It brought together developers, engineers, startup enthusiasts, and representatives of IT companies. The event was traditionally held under the auspices of Google Developer Groups and served as a platform for sharing experiences, showcasing new technologies, and discussing current industry trends.

In his welcoming speech, the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, noted that Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its position as an IT hub. To this end, the necessary conditions are being put in place to attract more foreign IT companies to the country. And it’s not just about benefits and preferences. It is essential to demonstrate that we have a lot of talented specialists. This is what most foreign companies are interested in.

U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick, who addressed the conference, spoke about negotiations with Google to enable YouTube monetization for Uzbek bloggers. According to him, negotiations are continuing.

Experts from the local and international IT community spoke at DevFest, including Google engineers, GDG community leaders, and specialists in mobile application development, web technologies, cloud solutions, and machine learning. Each report was accompanied by demonstrations, examples, and lively discussions, which made the program as practical as possible.

In addition to the central part, DevFest included workshops where participants could try out new programming tools live and get advice from experienced mentors. Networking became an essential part of the festival: participants met representatives of technology companies in Uzbekistan, discussed career opportunities, and launched their own projects.

GDG DevFest in Tashkent has confirmed its status as the largest platform for those seeking to develop in the field of IT. The organizers emphasized that the event’s purpose is not only to train, but also to build a strong local engineering community capable of tackling world-class challenges.
