International experts consider the hosting of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uzbekistan a recognition of the country’s large-scale democratic reforms and significant achievements in the development of parliamentarism and representative governance.
UzA correspondent spoke with Gabriel Guot Guot, a member of the Parliament of South Sudan.
“In recent years, Uzbekistan, through its friendly and peace-loving foreign policy based on principles of openness and mutual support, has actively sought to establish close dialogue not only with neighboring countries, but also with the international community”, said Gabriel Guot Guot. “Inter-parliamentary dialogue plays a special role in addressing the pressing issues faced by all nations. Topics such as international security, human rights protection, climate change, and sustainable development are actively discussed by parliamentarians, with proposals aimed at improving the legislative framework.
Many countries worldwide could take Uzbekistan’s democratic reforms as an example. Particular recognition is due to the country’s efforts to uphold human dignity, provide social support to the population, and ensure gender equality.
