President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a newly established small industrial zone for furniture production in Khonka district as part of his visit to Khorezm region.
Such industrial zones are being developed in line with the Presidential resolution of June 21, 2021, aimed at promoting the furniture industry in areas with high potential.
Khonka district has long been renowned for its skilled furniture artisans. Today, over 140 entrepreneurs are active in this field, and more than 500 homes host small workshops. Until recently, many of these artisans worked in cramped and unsuitable conditions.

In response to this need, 10 hectares of land were allocated to establish a small industrial zone focused on furniture production based on a cluster model. The zone also includes exhibition and retail spaces. 61 enterprises have begun operations here, with combined investments amounting to $10 million. 650 jobs have been created.
The enterprises are equipped with modern machinery imported from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Türkiye, and China. Their production capacity allows for annual furniture manufacturing for homes, offices, hotels, restaurants, commercial and public facilities, with an estimated output valued at 108 billion UZS.
The President toured the workshops to observe the production process. He emphasized the importance of fully capitalizing on the rapid pace of construction in Khorezm region – residential buildings, hotels, and infrastructure projects – to generate demand for locally produced goods and to localize new furniture products.

A training center for designers and technologists has also been established within the small industrial zone, and qualified specialists from Türkiye have been invited to support its operations.
During his visit, the President engaged in a discussion with these experts, addressing issues related to improving production quality and enhancing the skills of young professionals in this sector.
It is planned that the furniture produced in this zone will also be exported to international markets, with export volumes expected to exceed $3 million.

Another essential feature of the industrial zone is its focus on energy efficiency: all enterprises have been equipped with solar panels.
The Head of state viewed the product samples displayed in the showroom and praised their quality and design.
More than 300 enterprises are engaged in furniture production in Khorezm region. Over 200 entrepreneurs operate independently, and more than 1,300 people are self-employed.
