From household plot to sustainable income
In the mahalla citizens’ assembly of “Beshbola” in the city of Fergana, many families have made entrepreneurship and household farming a way of life. Among them is the family of Farkhodjon Khaydarov, who lives on Quva Street.
Since 2019, F. Khaydarov has been cultivating lemons in a greenhouse on a 200-square-meter plot of land. Over the course of a year, he harvests 1.5-2 tons of produce.
A drip irrigation system has been installed in the greenhouse, and the seedlings are regularly cared for. The winter harvest is stored in a dedicated facility and retains its quality. Between the rows of lemon trees, the agronomist plants beets, and by early spring, the crop is ready for sale.
In addition, F. Khaydarov grows vegetables and herbs on his household plot and produces natural juices.
