On February 25, 2025, a free trade regime was established between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, both countries have completed the necessary domestic procedures to implement the Protocol on Exemptions from the Free Trade Regime. This protocol supplements the Agreement between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of Turkmenistan on Principal Directions of Long-Term Trade and Economic Cooperation, signed on July 16, 2024, in Tashkent.

As a result, starting February 25, 2025, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan officially entered a mutual free trade arrangement.

The Protocol was approved by a Resolution of the President of Uzbekistan of January 27, 2025.

In 2024, trade turnover between the two countries reached $1.14 billion, an increase of 5.5% compared to the previous year.

Implementing this free trade regime has eliminated customs duties on goods produced within the two countries’ territories, except for specific categories of products. Additionally, existing mutual trade restrictions have been removed, and trade procedures have been simplified.
