A meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, and the U.S. Secretary of State was held in New York under the auspices of the C5+1 platform during the 79th annual session of the UN General Assembly, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of efforts to enhance economic cooperation, support sustainable development, strengthen transport and logistics connectivity, and promote peace and prosperity in the region.

Special attention was paid to joint efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Secretary Blinken noted that 2025 will mark ten years of enduring U.S.-Central Asian collaboration through the C5+1 platform. In the spirit of cooperation that has come to define the C5+1, the Secretary emphasized the U.S. commitment to pursuing regional solutions to global challenges in partnership with the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Participants agreed on the need to intensify and coordinate joint efforts aimed at combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, transnational and cybercrime, as well as countering radicalization.
