The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the REMIT PRIME program, organized an international roundtable titled “The role of international money transfers in enhancing financial inclusion and socio-economic stability”.
The event was attended by foreign experts, representatives of financial service providers, and organizations working in rural areas.
The program’s implementation will expand public access to financial services and develop digital payment solutions. IFAD places particular emphasis on the sustainable development of rural areas, increasing household incomes, and growing economic opportunities for low-income families.
The participants discussed relevant financial products and services for the population, tools to improve digital literacy, and the potential of digital technologies to reach rural areas. In addition, existing solutions in Uzbekistan’s financial market were analyzed, and international experience adapted to local conditions was examined.
“Currently, we are working closely with financial institutions in Uzbekistan. Our goal is to ensure the effective use of money transfers received by individuals and households – whether for starting a business, everyday expenses, or other needs”, said Pavel Shust, IFAD Regional Coordinator for Central Asia.
