Technovation Girls, the most extensive STEAM program for girls in Uzbekistan, in partnership with Yandex Uzbekistan, held a competition to develop projects and mobile applications (hackathon) in Fergana.

83 applicants aged 14 to 25 participated in the competition. They split into 18 teams and developed mobile applications and projects using neural networks.

All participants were given certificates, and six winning teams received special prizes. The project aimed at ensuring equal conditions of movement for people with disabilities and safe public transport, an application for smart parking, smart e-bins garbage cans to maintain the cleanliness of the city and improve waste recycling, an application with social services for motorists, an application that warns drivers about dangers on the road with facial recognition functions, voice, geolocation, and radar to improve people’s and animals’ safety, an AI application for optimizing traffic jams and public transport, focused on the protection of children and people with disabilities were recognized as the best.

Masterclasses were held on generating social ideas, preparing for the presentation and pitching of their project, and using AI to accelerate the development of applications and startups. Yandex employees acted as mentors and shared information about the company’s social and educational projects in Uzbekistan.

Registration for the new season of Technovation Girls Uzbekistan will open in January 2025 for participants and mentors from all regions of the country.
