Experts discuss prospects for creation of the Ministry of Social Protection

Tashkent hosted a meeting on the possibility of improving the social protection system of Uzbekistan population.
It was attended by representatives of the country’s government, the UN and UNICEF offices in Uzbekistan, heads of state organizations and NGOs engaged in social protection of the population.
According to the UN Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Uzbekistan Helena Fraser, investments in a reliable, integrated social protection system based on advanced international standards and experience will contribute to successful implementation of national development programs of Uzbekistan, while protecting the most vulnerable segments of the population.
The UN team has developed a joint program in partnership with Uzbekistan government on improving the social protection system of the country. Its main components are institutional reform and pilot programs for people with disabilities.
