English language teachers confidently advancing to C2 level (+video)

More than 1,500 English language and subject teachers across Uzbekistan are implementing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs aligned with international standards.

The initiative is being carried out through cooperation between the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the British Council, and the Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE) under the “School Champions” project.

Within this program, teachers are introducing modern teaching methodologies and establishing sustainable professional development mechanisms in their schools.

For example, a two-day “Continuous Professional Development Festival” brought together School Champions and national consultants from 218 schools. Conducted in a seminar-training format, the event focused on expanding CPD practices within schools, sharing best practices, and encouraging greater colleague engagement in professional growth. The forum also provided an opportunity to review the project’s three-year outcomes and recognize key achievements.

Since its launch in 2023, the “School Champions” initiative has organized more than 4,500 activities nationwide. According to experts, fostering a culture of lifelong learning transforms teachers from knowledge providers into inspirational leaders for young people. As a result, ordinary schools evolve into strong professional communities of highly skilled educators.

The events are held within the Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) program, which aims to promote inclusive and modern education systems across the region.
