Energy conservation and the development of renewable energy sources are among the priority tasks in Uzbekistan.

Particular attention is paid to ensuring environmental sustainability and improving economic efficiency through sector reforms and the introduction of innovative technologies.

The Joint Stock Company Uzbekneftegaz is also implementing several essential projects in this area. Here is what the head of the company’s Press Service, Mumin Ibodov, told us:

– The state has set us the tasks of widely introducing renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency. Through the construction of renewable energy facilities, the implementation of modern technologies, and the installation of energy-saving equipment, we have achieved significant results in ensuring the proper use of energy resources at our enterprises.

Thus, in the first seven months of the current year, the company saved 72.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 34.48 million cubic meters of natural gas. These figures represent 132 and 101.5 percent of the planned targets, respectively.

To ensure the implementation of the President’s directives on energy conservation and the introduction of renewable energy sources, Uzbekneftegaz JSC has carried out several projects. Devices for frequency and reactive power compensation, energy-efficient pumps, compressors, and modern technologies have been installed at production facilities and offices. In addition, a 29.3 MW solar photovoltaic plant, solar water heaters, and solar panel-based lighting systems are in operation. This has made it possible to reduce electricity consumption significantly.

At present, the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex is implementing a project to generate electricity from 48,000 cubic meters of waste gas. Once operating at full capacity, the complex will produce 36.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and prevent the emission of 14,297 tons of CO₂. A 7 MW gas-piston power plant is under construction at the Gazli Oil and Gas Production Department. This project will generate 47 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

In addition, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) modules with a capacity of 95 MW, or 190 MWh, are being introduced at the enterprises and divisions of the system. Undoubtedly, these measures will result in savings of electricity and fuel resources, as well as improved environmental sustainability.

By the end of the current year, it is planned to save 98.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 72 million cubic meters of natural gas.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the reforms and investment projects of Uzbekneftegaz JSC play an essential role in conserving energy resources and ensuring environmental sustainability. New technologies and production modernization make a significant contribution to the development of the national economy and the protection of the environment. This is one of the priority steps toward a sustainable and environmentally safe future for Uzbekistan.
