The fifth day of the 32nd Summer World University Games, held in Germany, became successful for Uzbekistan’s swimmers and taekwondo athletes.

In the WT taekwondo competition, Marat Mavlonov won the silver medal in the over 87 kg weight category, and Najmiddin Kosimkhujayev became the bronze medalist in the under 74 kg weight category. Thus, the Uzbekistan national team has 9 medals – 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze.

In the semifinal heat of the 100-meter butterfly, Eldorbek Usmonov scored 52.30 seconds, securing his place in the final. This result became a new record of Uzbekistan at this distance. E. Usmonov also set the previous record.

Today, Uzbekistan’s athletes will take part in swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, and archery championships.

Following the results of the four-day University Games, the U.S. national team leads the overall standings with 17 gold, 9 silver, and 17 bronze medals. The Chinese national team is in second place, with 10 gold, 13 silver, and 3 bronze medals. The third leader, with 10 gold, 5 silver, and 11 bronze medals, is the national team of the Republic of Korea.
