Fergana region is rich in pilgrimage places that attract many tourists.

In Uzbekistan, there are many places associated with the name of Hazrat Ali ibn Abu Talib, also known as “Shakhimardan”, “Sheri Khudo”, “Murtazo”, and “Haydar”. Hazrat Ali ibn Abu Talib (600-661) was a cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad and one of the ten to whom Paradise was promised.

There is a symbolic tomb of Hazrat Ali in the village of Shakhimardan, Fergana region. The origin of the word Shakhimardan is also connected with his name and means “King of Braves”. According to local legend, Hazrat Ali often visited Shakhimardan and was buried here. According to legend, his grave is located at the confluence of two rivers, surrounded by mountains on four sides, but these assumptions have no scientific justification.

The symbolic tomb of Hazrat Ali is also called Sherdargokh Piri, which in a metaphorical translation means “Tomb of a Lion”. Hazrat Ali during his lifetime was famous for his courage and fearlessness, therefore he was called Asadullah, that is, the “The Lion of Allah”. Today this place is almost always full of tourists. Everyone who comes to Shakhimardan visits the tomb to receive spiritual food.
