Today, digital technologies are used across all spheres of public life, playing a vital role in increasing the efficiency of various sectors.
The rapid advancement of information technologies, artificial intelligence, internet services, and mobile communications is transforming the economy, education system, healthcare, energy, and many other fields. Digital transformation enhances organizational efficiency and ensures public access to modern digital services.
We spoke with Alexandra Nabieva, Public Relations Manager at Huawei Technologies in Uzbekistan, about digital technologies as a key factor in modern development.
– Uzbekistan’s achievements in digital technologies are noteworthy, – said Alexandra Nabieva. – They result from consistently implementing the goals outlined in the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.
In recent years, a systematic digitalization of all areas of activity has been observed. Establishing IT parks across various regions provides young specialists with opportunities for education and professional development, reflecting the state’s strong focus on digital progress.
International cooperation plays a crucial role in this process. Huawei has made a significant contribution to the development of the digital sector in Uzbekistan. In 2024, the country conducted trials of 5.5G technologies. These technologies were showcased during ICT Week and, for the first time in Central Asian history, were implemented in Uzbekistan, marking a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s digital infrastructure.
– What are the results of implementing 5G and 5.5G technologies?
– First and foremost, telecom operators have recognized the necessity of high-speed services.
5G technology, the implementation of which had been under discussion for 3-4 years, is now operational in the capital and is being gradually introduced in the regions. Last year, projects in this area were successfully launched in Fergana region and other territories.
Ucell has effectively implemented projects to ensure indoor coverage with 5G networks. Currently, 5G services are available in major shopping centers in Tashkent, and recently, the technology was introduced in metro stations as well.
In cooperation with telecom operators, Huawei is implementing various programs and initiatives. Brand zones have been established to strengthen engagement with consumers. Huawei products are now available not only in the company’s offices, but also in Mobiuz offices located in Tashkent and Samarkand.
– What initiatives are being implemented to develop the digital economy?
– We aim to build strong, cooperative relations with partners in the IT sector. Important memoranda are being signed in education and technology, which are expected to yield positive results in the future. In cooperation with the Center for Digital Economy Research, we recently completed a significant project – the development of the ‘White Paper on the Digital Economy’.
Huawei is also active in the energy sector, including solar energy, electric vehicle production, and energy-efficient technologies.
– What training programs are being implemented for youth and professionals?
– Last year, several important programs and projects were launched. For example, under the ‘Seeds for the Future’ program, young people from Uzbekistan took part in international events held in Barcelona and Shanghai as part of a government delegation, where they presented their innovative ideas.
Young specialists from Uzbekistan, who won an award at the international ‘Tech4Good Global Competition’, participated in an exchange program and spent two weeks in China studying advanced practices and innovative solutions in their respective fields.
Through the ‘ICT Academy’ program, students can receive free training in digital technologies. The Academy educates young people and plays an active role in preparing them for international competitions.
– Could you please tell us about the company’s activities?
– Huawei operates in 170 countries. Last year, the company celebrated the 25th anniversary of its presence in the Republic of Uzbekistan. More than 3 billion people worldwide use Huawei’s services through digital communication technologies, advanced technological solutions, and telecom operators.
The company employs 208,000 people globally, half of whom are in research and development (R&D). Our office in Uzbekistan employs more than 400 specialists.
Our main goal is to significantly contribute to developing Uzbekistan’s digital technology sector.
