At the event, main attention was paid to activities carried out within the framework of the President’s resolution “On the organization of activities of the Agency for Development of Viticulture and Winemaking under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan” of February 5 this year, and the results achieved on its basis.
It was noted that a number of measures are being taken to increase the number of vineyards and the spread of viticulture throughout the country, expand the fields of technical grape varieties, and cultivate special promising varieties that are in great demand in the world market.
At the press conference, employees of relevant enterprises and organizations, specialists, farmers shared their views on changes in this system.
According to the Agency, there are 40 industrial processing enterprises capable of accepting up to 202.8 thousand tons of grapes during the season, in the winemaking industry. In recent years, the installation of modern technological equipment for the primary processing of grapes of Italian, Bulgarian, and Moldavian production at 19 winemaking sites of these enterprises ensured the achievement of efficiency in this industry. In 2018, 153.3 thousand tons of grapes were processed. This season it is planned to process grape raw materials in the amount of 160 thousand tons.
